In maths, the word ‘of’ means multiply.

So, 4/5 of a number = 32

Can be translated as 0.8x=32, which can be easily worked out.

(0.8= 4/5, x=a number)

Step 1: 4/5 = 32

Step2: 32/4 = 8

Step3: 5/5 = 40

Step4: 40/5 = 8

Voila!
Yes, so we rewrite the question as x * 4/5 = 32

To get x by itself, we divide both sides by 4/5 so we get:

x = 32 / (4/5)

If we type that into the calculator we get: x = 40

the answer is 40

Yeah I know didn't I get the answer on step 3?

I was simply proving on step 4 that it would be 40 as each 1/5 was equals to 8.

I think you meant 15x=8\dfrac{1}{5}x = 8 as 158\dfrac{1}{5} \neq 8
32*5/4
The OP is probably married with children at this stage

32 divided by 4 = 8
8 multiplied by 5 = 40
( divide by the top and times by the bottom)
Thank you for helping me with this question, I am appreciative about that, to you. Many thanks,Samsheer

Is this like maths for 10 year olds? Wtf
0.8x = 32
Divide both sides by 0.8 to get x =40
