A particle moves 100m in a straight line. The diagram is a sketch of a velocity-time graph of the motion of the particle. The particle starts with a velocity u ms-1 and accelerates to a velocity of 10ms-1 in 3s. The velocity of 10ms-1 is maintained for 7s and then the particle decelerates to rest in a further 2s.
Find: a)the value of u b) the acceleration f the particle in the firtt 3s of motion

Area under graph: 3u + 3(10 - u)/2 + 70 + 10 = 100
Solve for u, then use v = u + at to find a at t = 3
