Hello

Hope you are doing well!! We are so excited to hear that you have applied to join Oxford Brookes!

Thank you for your patience. Since more people would have been applying during that time period, the Admissions Team will be busier, due to the volume of applications they receive. But I am sure that they will get back to you regarding your application once they have had a chance to process it.

However if you are worried about your application, feel free to get in touch with the Admissions Team at: [email protected]

I hope this will help! If you have anymore questions, please do feel free to ask! I would be more than happy to help!! Good luck with your application!!

All the best,

I think says on their website abd open days they offer one-off counselling but are not set up for long term and serious issues which are usually dealt with by GPs I.e medical mental health referral.

Well yeah. Hence why this student was in hospital.

“In 2018, I was diagnosed with cancer and was told I had to still attend lectures. I got an email whilst I was in ITU, saying that my attendance was too low,” said a Law LLB student in her second year, before she was forced to drop out.

“I was told that if I don’t turn up to exams, I will fail the course and lose accreditation. I had to use lawyers and my MP to get fees back because I dropped out but I was still charged.”

I don't see any basis for the assumption that the same situation exists at other universities.
Anyone know when the engineering will move to headington

I agree all the students mentioned were let down but I am not sure with any of the examples as they all relate to very very serious medical and/or mental health issues whether University counselling (the same would apply to school or college counselling) would ever be the appropriate/right solution. A review of counselling at the university should be done immediately and guidance given as to how to refer serious cases to more specialist and official counselling. For students or in fact those upset etc due to family/friends with cancer, local Macmillan counsellors and resources should be used.
Hopefully for those looking to start this university in the next few years the way counselling is offered should be improved. Sadly by focussing on one University the Tab will have ignored the suffering of many at the higher end Universities this year where pastoral care has also been lacking. Unless this is a series of articles on poor university pastoral care at many uk universities

Wow... Thanks for posting this.

Hi @joel.gppa
I'm going to whisper this quietly as this is the Oxford Brookes official thread but that's fantastic news. Fingers crossed.
You might like to post on our own University of Derby applicant thread.
All the best.
