mitral valve/bicuspid valve

does it matter what you call it on edexcel a level biology mark scheme?
Hello there!

Edexcel are a very strange exam board, with v unpredictable and sometimes blatantly incorrect mark schemes [sorry that your school chose this board]!

In view of this, I would stick to whichever term they prefer, although technically the name mitral valve is used in medicine and is the more appropriate one [it is named after "mitre" that a bishop wears as headgear, cos of the resemblance in appearance]. Traditionally, at school level, the term bicuspid valve has been taught, but as I say just stick to whatever Edexcel prefer, in the knowledge that they are, to put it is youngsters' lingo, weird!

Sorry if this sounds critical, but we have to face reality.

Be safe!
