What are the best bars and clubs in zone 1 and 2 for students?

Hi!

I was wondering what are the bars of choice and clubs for central(ish) London students? Ideally places that are going to be more student-y than filled with city workers etc. Strong preference for places that are more bar-like than club like so there are places to talk and mingle rather than just crazy loud music everywhere. Any area so long as accessible from campus.

There are a lot.

Are you looking for a bar with a young crowd, or are you looking for clubs where you can go and dance to music? What kind of music/subgenre do you lean towards?

Zone 1 and 2 is quite vague, if you narrow that down into a bit more specific, I can certainly try to help.
