Perpendicular Graphs

I am doing GCSE Higher Maths paper and really can’t understand perpendicular lines. For example one of the questions I am struggling with is: The straight line L has the equation y=2x-5 Find an equation of the straight line perpendicular to L which passes through (0,3) I have tried to look through explanations but they are too complex to understand if there is any way someone could break it down easier I would rlly appreciate it

if you multiply the gradients of two perpindicular lines you'll get the answer -1 , once you find the answer to that then you can insert it into y=mx+c since you already have the y intercept from the co-ordinates (0,3)
