There are two phases of motion, before and after the string breaks. The first is the usual connected system and the second is simply free motion under gravity. You know how to do both phases, and theyre connected by the final velocity in the first phase corresponds to the initial velocity in the 2nd phase and similarly for the displacements. Sketches with the info marked on help.
yh what the last dude said means you have to do two separate suvat equations modelled under the two different accelerations
