So paracetamol is 500mg to a tablet and you can take up to 1g every 6 hours so that’s 2x tablets. 2x tablets is 0.86g of sodium. You can have paracetamol 4x in a daily period so that’s 8 tablets. So 0.86g x 4 is 3.44g sodium which is above the RDA making the journalist right in the case of paracetamol.

Apply the same principle to aspirin so each tablet is 300mg and you can take 2 at a time for 0.6g and that’s every 4 hrs. So 2x tablets at 0.3g sodium together 6x in a 24hr period is 1.8g of sodium. This is below the RDA and so in this case the journalist would be wrong.
