biology blood vessel a level

how come the blood vessel carrying blood at lowest pressure is the vena cava?
I understand that this carries blood away from the whole body back to the heart so understand that it would be low but how come the answer isn't capillaries?
Don't do A-Level biology, but I remember that in the heart veins and arteries are switched around for some reason?
So veins do the job that arteries would do only in/close to the heart though. Hope it helps you somehow
