Why do composite volcanos form at subduction zones? like why is the eruption explosive?

That's where the earth's crust will be subducted underneath another plate, then below the surface it is melted and creates magma (lava but underground). As it's underground with nowhere to go, it has high pressure and is forced out into a volcano.

The area of this diagram that says 'hot fluids' is where it melts and rises, pushing the continental crust upwards.
