What a year we've had!

It's official, we have finally made it out of the vomit-inducing GCSEs and will now have to dip our toes in unfamiliar waters.
So obviously it would be a whole debacle without a friend to turn to and who else is better than other poor humans who have no idea who you are but are in the same situation... well this is where TSR comes in.

Hiya TSRers THIS IS THE OFFICIAL 2023-2024 YEAR 12 CHAT THREAD

8. Useful Revision Techniques for yourself

but most importantly don't stress because the worst is yet to come.

hiya, don't want to tell my name sorry
currently at sixth form
doing A-level math chemistry biology in GCSE got 666
doing EPQ aiming for A8 as well
I am aiming for 2A*1A minimum as I don't think I do well in my gcse so I need to aim for the best grade in A-level to become competitive
I want to study medicine or law
I think flashcards works the best on doing revision and doing pastpaper

Hi I'm Kent I'm in college doing A level sociology psychology and English language and an EPQ I like writing, photography and I get involved in campaigns for social justice where I can. I'm on the student newspaper and I'm going to start doing some virtual work experience I'm aiming for all A's I don't have much of a plan for university but I know I want to be a writer and I want to go somewhere not in the north west and not in a city for university my revision technique is to make notes and rewrite them more and more concisely

Wow, similar a levels to me. I literally cannot find any girls who do cs. I’m the only girl in my class

im also doing similar alevels, its very reassuring as there are very few girls doing my subjects.
Please will someone just help with some life problems im having rn. I keep having arguments with my nan over how difficult a level physics is and how i just feel like i don’t have the time in the day to be studying for it. It takes me 4 hours in total to get to college and back and i start at 9 and finish at 4. She keeps telling me i need to get a job because everyone else can do it but i don’t know if it’s me or her in the wrong please someone talk some sense into me because i’m so ready to drop out of college. Do i need to just discipline myself or is it really this hard?

Hi my names Nkeonye I'm currently at Sixth Form College studying Biology (Edexcel A) 7 at GCSE, Psychology (Eduqas), not taken at GCSE , Geography (Edexcel) 7 at GCSE and Maths AS (Edexcel) 8 at GCSE. For hobbies I like to sing, cook, bake and play Roblox. Right now I have started the DofE bronze award and hope to reach Gold 🙂 I volunteer at a charity shop and I am also in a club at my school called Aim High which helps develop your skills and gives you knowledge beyond the spec to aid applications to Russel group universities. After A levels I'd like to study psychology at a Russel group Uni or even Oxbridge (if I can get the grades!) I hope to achieve all A*-B's.
To revise Geography, psychology and biology I make concise notes following spec points, then I create flashcards on Quizlet and do practice exam or essay questions. For maths I make notes, watch videos on topics I don't understand and do practice questions on maths genie and in the textbook

No college is really hard and stressful and you don't need to get a job if u don't want to. Your college should offer a bursary for students if you qualify for it. For physics maybe ask your teachers for help and see if there's extra support they can give you. and use resources on Physics and Maths tutor, theres this youtuber called physics online, he got me through my gcse's and does A level content. I hope this helps

Hey have you thought about volunteering at a charity shop, I volunteer at the BHF and it can help develop your skills which you can put in your personal statement. There's load of flexibility, I just do 2 hours per week and the application is fast online

Hi my name is Kat! I am an avid writer and find passion in the arts. I am taking English Literature (WJEC), Maths (WJEC), Chemistry (WJEC), and Philosophy (AQA). Honestly hoping I get all As!! But I will not be disappointed in a B  Currently I am doing a course with a scholars program with my school on the history of the novel. I also started a book club at my school, as well as participate in debating. Currently I am deciding if I want to attend a UK or USA university (I am American). A bit confused on where I should go in life. I am not sure what I want to do, if I could I would dedicate my life to studying everything. Some of my favorite revision techniques include writing information down repeatedly on a post-it note until it is stuck. Past paper questions are good too. Hope you all do well on your exams
