Help for this is the equivalent protons correct… the one labelled a is att arched to a c that attatched to a cl and the other c is attached to a br so are they really equivalent ??IMG_2891.jpeg

That is correct, the Br-CH2 and the CH2-Cl are not equivalent.

Both the -CH3 groups are labelled a and they are equivalent, as they have the exact same 4 groups bound to their respective carbons.

And of course, the -CH2- groups are correctly labelled as they are on the image you attached.
