New College Oxford elitist classics department?

New College Oxford elitist classics department?

I heard that New College prefers to admit students taking the classics I course (where students come in having already learnt either latin or greek) rather than course II classicists, and so there are rarely classics II students in New College. is this true??? and are there any other colleges with known preferences like this? thank you!
