Best Budget Hotel Options near Kingston-upon-Thames

Whether you're heading to the area for an upcoming KU Open Day or staying a few days with your parents whilst getting settled into your new uni life, you probably don't want to take out a second mortgage just to visit Kingston! Luckily, Kingston has lots of affordable accommodation options close to both the town centre and the uni itself, some of which I'll break down here.

Premier Inn London, Kingston-Upon-Thames
Address: 15 Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 2PD
Nearby: Knights Park Campus, Penrhyn Road Campus and The Bentall Centre.

With only an 8 minute walk from the Knights Park Campus and a 9 minute walk from the Penrhyn Road Campus, Kingston's Premier Inn is one of the handiest and most affordable options if you need a hotel nearby. Prices can vary, but tend to start around £35+ depending on how far booked in advance.

Travelodge London, Kingston-Upon-Thames
Address: International House, 27 Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 2PD
Nearby: Knights Park Campus, Penrhyn Road Campus and The Bentall Centre.

Right beside Premier Inn is (one of!) Kingston's Travelodge. The distance to Knights Park and Penrhyn Road is essentially the exact same - however, Travelodge might be a bit cheaper than Premier Inn depending on when you're booking, so make sure to do a price comparison between the two.

If you're struggling to find an affordable booking in either, Kingston has another Travelodge only a stone's throw away on Old London Rd. Prices tend to be similar between the two - however, the advantage of this one is that it's slightly closer to the Kingston Rail Station, making transporting any heavy uni luggage slightly easier.

Travelodge, Raynes Park
Address: Durham House, Amity Grove, Raynes Park, London, SW20 0LL
Nearby: Kingston Hill Campus and Roehampton Vale Campus

I know, I know - another Travelodge? However, if you're heading to the KU campuses around Kingston Hill, Raynes Park might be a good option for you. Located in Fare Zone 4, Raynes Park is a 7 minute drive to the Roehampton Vale Campus and a 9 minute drive to Kingston Hill, with other public transport options easily available.

Premier Inn London, Tolworth
Address: 12 Kingston Rd, Chiddingstone, Chessington, Surbiton, KT5 9NU
Nearby: Clayhill Halls of Residence and Seething Wells Halls of Residence

If you're moving into Kingston University's Halls of Residence in Surbiton, the nearby area of Tolworth is a handy spot if you need to spend a night or two somewhere before moving in. Only a bus ride from the centre of Kingston, Tolworth has a good selection of local supermarkets, with the Tolworth Rail Station being located right beside the Premier Inn hotel.
