i might be wrong here but i think the answer to that is that chromosomes are condensed at the end of interphase.

Thanks for your reply. I was taught that chromatids condenses into chromosomes at the beginning of prophase? Maybe its the fact that the chromosomes don’t form during prophase but just condense but that doesn’t make much sense because the chromatin condensing into chromosomes is basically forming chromosomes?
