Hey! I'm also an Australian student. How did you go for your ATAR?

I got a 98.75, with 1 Raw 50 study score, 3 raw 40's and 1 scaled 40 and then there was English which we don't really talk about (I did VCE btw). How did you go?

I got a 98.9 raw but my UK unis are taking EAS into consideration so I technically got a 99.95 haha. I got 5 A's but messed up specialist maths so I was a mark off an A

How the hell did you manage to do that? I thought UK Unis didn't care about SEAS and it was "Get the score we asked or die trying". Did get your reference to put it down or something?

Haha I basically argued that A-level students get the adjustments if they've had extenuating circumstances, so why shouldn't we? I also had quite a few issues this year that impacted my study (my reference mentioned them) so I'm guessing they were empathetic to those

Yeah fair play man, so do they actually see your ATAR as 99.95 or just “Higher than actual achievement” so like do UK Unis genuinely see your ATAR as 99.95 from the scaled 98.90 or just “His score was scaled to the max possible score attainable in his course from the difficult circumstances he faced”

Hi!
Have you received one?

Hi, still waiting. Applied the 1st week of Oct'23 and references were submitted by the 2nd week of Oct'23; however, had issue with the application system, whereby the completed application ended up on the 2nd week of Nov'23. How about you?

Ohh that's sad ☹️
I didn't apply to this particular course though!
Hopefully it will get through by mid Jan maybe cause now the holiday season is close to the end. Hoping for the best!

I received an offer to study Computing undergrad on 18th December. The department closed on 22nd December so it's no surprise you haven't heard back (yet) and will open from today or tomorrow so you will hear back soon.

Hey, I received my informal offer mail 2 days ago but haven't yet received the official offer letter. (round 1)

I got waitlisted for the same program! Hoping to hear back soon, I think they follow a rolling process for admissions, so they might clear out on the waitlist this month?

Does anyone know how early before Computing interviews Imperial sends out invites? Also, what is the entrance exam result required for interview? I can't seem to find the FOI request.

not sure when they'll send more interview invites, but there's not an official result required for interview. when did you apply and when did you do the test?

Does anyone know what MAT score is required for Maths admission?

Does anyone know what MAT score is required for Maths admission?

Oxford would say that a good MAT score for their interview process is nearing 65 and to be in offer territory is like 75+ for Maths (maybe more because I don't know about recent competition).

I think that Imperial will be roughly the same but allow a greater margin of error i.e. I think they will allow 55 and 65+ for offer territory as it is also a commendable score. It is all dependent on how strong your personal statement is as well but it is checked in addition to your admissions test score.

I applied for Computing so I have to sit the STEP as well, as part of my offer. In the pre-interview admissions test, looking at past data from an FOI request, I noticed that there were a handful of people who scored full marks on the admissions test and yet didn't secure an interview (which suggests that the only other factor is the personal statement). This suggests that both need to be good. At interview, a good percentage of individual receive offers for Computing anyway (I believe according to the admissions tutor, it is around 25% but I've heard anywhere from 25% to 80% as the offer rate) so it might be the same for Maths but who knows?

If your MAT score isn't quite on par with their standards (i.e. not quite reaching 55 and 65), they may interview you and then as part of your offer (if you receive it), you may be required to sit the STEP but it's less likely unless your personal statement is really impressive i.e. qualifying for BMO1 or merit certificate in Kangaroo and above (both of which I attained but didn't have enough space to mention in my personal statement but thankfully, it got mentioned in my reference).
