trig

How would I express cos^2(x) (the x isn't in the exponent) in terms of cos(2x). I am not sure what trig identities I would use or how.

You can use the double angle formula: cos(2x) = 2cos^2(x) - 1 and rearrange to make cos^2(x) the subject.

Hope this helps.
