Dentistry MMI Interview

I currently have 2 interviews for dentistry (at Liverpool and Plymouth) and I was wondering if Dental MMI interviews are similar to Medical MMI interviews as most of the information I could find online was regrading medical MMIs. Furthermore, I was wondering if some stations are normal interview questions. For example, the interviewer asks you questions on your personal statement or dental news. For the roleplay or manual dexterity stations, would you receive the task beforehand so you can prepare for it? Or does your interviewer give it to you and you have to instantly do it.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Hey, Dental and Medical interviews are very similar so your resources will be fine! As you said, the only real difference is that in a dental interview they may ask about what is going on in dentistry as opposed to medicine. In my experience, dexterity tasks are usually given to you before, whereas role-play tends to be on the day, but you can always contact the uni if you are unsure.

Good luck!!

Hi there! 😀

I'm a current student here at Plymouth and, although I don't study the same subject, I'm more than happy to answer any general questions you might have! We also have lots of course reps and staff members on our Unibuddy page too!

Best of luck with your interview! 🙂

Hi! 🙂

Because I don't study dentistry, I'm not sure on the specifics of this but we have two amazing dental students available to chat to on our Unibuddy site who might be able to give you some more insight into the interview and how to best prepare!

Best of luck with your interview and I hope it goes well! 😀

Hi, I have two questions, if you don't mind (considering you're still at Plymouth!) - what is your favourite thing at the university of Plymouth? + what is something that you did not expect to see/have/experience there? Thanks

Hi there! 😄

Thanks for reaching out- I'd say my favourite thing at Plymouth would be the location (both the city and campus itself). It's a great walkable city with everything a student could need, affordable, accessible, and with great views of the ocean, natural spaces, and amazing spots for food and drink, shopping and entertainment. The public transport and links to the rest of the country are also great. 🚅

The campus is very modern, well-equipped, and great for supporting learning experiences with good student hang out spots, study spaces, facilities, and cafés, as well as high tech equipment and green spaces. 🌿

I'd say something I wouldn't have expected to experience in Plymouth would be the diversity of learning and teaching methods. As I do zoology, we regularly go in the labs, do practicals, field work, lectures, sessions, boat work, and trips abroad/in the local area. This is great for me as it adds an extra element of enhance learning and skill building whilst utilising the natural surroundings of Plymouth, and building practical skills. The lecturers and staff are really keen and passionate too! 😁

Hope this helps and if you have any more questions, feel free to reach out! 🤩

Hi there! 👋 Great to hear your medicine interview is coming up and fingers crossed it goes well for you! 🤞

As I don't study this course and didn't have to interview for my subject, I wouldn't have any specific interview tips for medicine but I'd definitely recommend reaching out to some of the medicine forums (both for Plymouth and generally) to chat to other applicants, current students, and others about the process if you're worried at all!

We also have a medicine student here at Plymouth available to chat to on our Unibuddy page, which you can find by clicking here and starting a chat with Gifty. She'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about the process and how to best prepare for your interview. 😊

The main thing though is to be yourself and showcase your passion for the course, alongside evidencing your skills with experiences and knowledge that you've gained up to this point that would support your success as a medicine student.

Best of luck! 😄
