does anyone know how KCL judge based on GCSE grades? I know they have their minimums as posted on their website- but on a more competitive level what grades are good? thanks!

I think you really need all 8s and 9s. Not entirely sure tho but I read through (and talked to) this year’s applicants and apparently even one grade 7 at GCSE puts you at a huge disadvantage. 🤷*♀️ This is because they are one of the few dental unis that consider GCSEs at a very strong level.

kcl is 50% ucat, 40% gsces and 10% contextual factors. to score full marks on the gsce side u just need 8 8s or 9s. Have a ucat of 2800+ alongside full gsces and u will be guaranteed to get an interview

What if i have 6667777788 in my gcses? Can my a-levels counteract that, or is that considered as completing an entry requirement?

ok!! thats such a relief I get full GCSE’s but only just- I’ll have to focus on the UCAT now tysm

UCAT thresholds are predicted to go up this year as there is no BMAT so lots of ppl who would have split their time between BMAT and UCAT are now 100% focused on UCAT so maybe more than 2800 (I can't say what UCAT score tho)

excuse me? i got 6 A*s and 2 As am i already at a disadvantage?
but i'm a contextual too, if i get a ucat of 2800-2900 will that guarantee me an interview then?
Nothings a guarantee but I think you will be quite a strong applicant with that UCAT. Also I got 1 A as well dw abt it sm. it’s hard to get full marks in the point system and in order to get an interview you don’t need full marks anyway.

All 8s and 9s is simply not true at all. I know a lot of applicants with weaker academic profiles and gotten offers….

Also pretty sure the marking is now 100points for UCAT, 40for GCSEs, 5 Alevels, 5SJT, I think so GCSEs make up a lot less of the total score of 150, contextual applicants can also get 10 extra points but they’ll say at the open day

You have 40 points out of 150 for GCSEs, you score top 8 GCSEs including maths, eng and science (I think), a 7 makes you lose 1 mark, a 6 makes you lose 2 marks, they really dont...
does anyone know if I get really good on the ucat like 2900+ but my gcses are 887777666 would I still have a chance?
They could but you also need to keep in mind that a lot of people apply with a really good UCAT score and high GCSEs. Nobody knows for certain who they would accept so you can always try your luck!
