Harris Westminster interview

I recently got an interview for Harris Academy Westminster on English lit, and I'm just wondering whether anyone has any advice, maybe on the kind of thing they liked to see/hear or the kinds of questions they might ask? thank you!

Same with my man! He was super friendly and nice so I couldn’t work out if that was because of me or not. I talked about Bildungsroman novels and 1st person stories, so Jane eyre and such. What about you? xx

I talked about the translation of literature creating a liminal space, and whether a true translation could ever be achieved xx

hi babe, I go rn and I did my interview in English, so I can give u a few tips:

The interview is split into 2 -
In the first part, you talk about why you’re taking the subject. This is your opportunity to talk about a niche that interests you (don’t come with something generic like ‘it’s interesting’ or wtv). For example, I talked about the translation of literature creating a liminal space of meaning, and how that affects the reader and the text as a whole. Don’t worry about sounding ‘fancy’, they’re looking for enthusiasm and a supercurricular interest in your subject.

In the second part there is a verbal assessment. They’ll give you a piece of text (likely a poem, but it differs between teachers) to analyse, and you literally just say anything that pops into your head (dw, if your stuck they’ll help you out). They just want to test your analytical abilities, and how you respond to new concepts.

hope that helps x

Thank you so much and might sound a little irrelevant, but tips on what to wear? Do I have to dress formally?

yes but you don’t need to overdo it - a nice top n formal trousers/skirt will be fine. (just don’t come in joggers)

Hi. So basically I've got rejected from HWSF because I got 440 compared to the boarder line of 443 for Priority 3/4. But I've heard that you can still get in by handing in your GCSE result day to them. But I have some questions:

Do you know anyone that got in via result day?

Also, normally you need 6 of grades 7-9. So if I'm going to get in via result day, do I need grades higher than that? As in mostly 8/9?

Do I email them? Or can I actually go to them? Because I was planning to do both since going there physically kinda shows my commitment? Idk.

Thank you!
