Does the period number also help with electron arrangement?

I haven’t specifically read if this is true or not. I read that the periodic structure can help determine an element's outermost orbital letter based on its location.

I've noticed that the period also contributes to the electron arrangement, too.

Example: Radium in period 7 group 2.

Using the electron configuration. Stopping at 7s, on the 7th row and counting the max electrons for each row. 2.8.18.32.18.8.2 is the arrangement. This has worked for a few elements I have tried.

Thank you for confirming and that I wasn’t just imagining it.
