    Hey there,

Been reading "The Child in Time" by Ian McEwan for my A-level coursework next year - in which I have to select a second text for comparison/contrast, based on any themes I want. We have been given a reading list, but none of the texts offered particularly grabbed me.

Wondering if anyone can suggest any texts with familiar themes that I could base an essay on, comparing to the original novel. I would love to be able to use "1984" by George Orwell, but I'm unsure as to a) whether the theme of dystopia in both is deep enough to explore, or b) whether there are any other similar themes.

    Any suggestions much appreciated.
