Here is the poetry guide I just wrote (shameless promo )
Welcome to TSR's very own English study group!
We already have a study group for A-level philosophy/RS, and I thought we could use a similar one for English. You can use this thread to discuss the concepts and texts you're studying and help each other out with your English literature or language (or both!) studies. Get started by introducing yourself below!
Are you in Year 12 or Year 13? Are you studying English language, English literature or both? Which exam board are you using? What are your set texts? (for English literature) What do you enjoy most/are you looking forward to most about English?
Doing both. Ocr for English literature. Doing Measure for measure, age of innocence, dolls House and selected poems of Christina Rossetti. Wjec English language I am in year 13

Literature (AQA). The texts I'm doing are The Importance of Being Earnest, The Taming of the Shrew, Emma, The Kite Runner, The Handmaiden's Tale and Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience.
I absolutely love analysing Literature so I can't wait for lessons to truly begin!
Just realised I haven't answered the questions myself - Year 12 - English literature - Edexcel - The Handmaid's Tale, Frankenstein, Othello, A Streetcar Named Desire, Poetry of the Decade (various writers) and I'll be doing some poetry by John Donne next year. - I'm looking forward to being able to add in some context, after all those years of abstract GCSE lit crit! I also really like my set texts.
Thanks for the tag! Year 13 doing English Lit edexcel - A streetcar named desire - Hamlet - Wuthering heights and mrs dalloway - John keats poetry I'm acc looking forward for my coursework as we chose our own texts
Thanks for tagging me (: Year 12, English Lit Edexcel The texts we're doing are: Tess of the D'Urbervilles; Wuthering Heights; Poems of the Decade; A Streetcar Named Desire + I just really like critical analysis of texts and writing essays.
yeah honestly i loved reading it. i think reading is the only thing ill look forward to doing
Your 1984 essay titles could be pretty fun as well. I'd love to write something on Newspeak and the concept of cutting down a lexicon as a method of limiting free thought (and link it to the Soviet Union) but I'm a huge linguistics nerd so that's right up my street :P
Hi! I'm in year 12, I study English literature - just started. We use the OCR exam board (fml I know) and we aren't sure what texts we're doing just yet. I am looking forward most to the coursework because we get to compare novels and it's completely our choice - so I really love the freedom to choose a text that best suits you!
Hiyaaa! Thanks for the tag btw I'm in year 12 and doing WJEC English Literature As far as I know we're studying Jane Eyre and A Streetcar Named Desire and Poetry stuff by Hughes and Plath I'm looking forward to more in-depth analysis as GCSE wasn't quite there sadly.
