Hey! :h:

You can search up A100 (Medicine) and the UCAS code for Dentistry on UCAS. But, I found last year a few unis did enter “unofficial” clearing. What I mean by that is some unis had some places to offer but you couldn’t find these options on UCAS. To get the most accurate information, it’s best to check on the unis website. I seem to remember some unis specifically stated on their website that they will not be entering clearing or otherwise. But, as you’re a resit applicant, entry requirements is something to look out for. Some unis require you to get an A* in the resat subject etc.

Also, your UCAT score for this year is something they’ll look at like always when selecting for interview as well so best to start looking into the unis cut offs as well. Make sure you look at all their entry requirements. It might be best to make a spreadsheet with all the medical/ dental schools with a list of all their entry requirements (GCSEs, A Level requirements- this might be different for you as you have resat A Levels etc) for 2023 entry and should they enter clearing, whether you would be eligible to apply via clearing. It’ll make it easier to make calls to unis as well on results day.

But, many unis have adopted a waitlist system- so applicants that didn’t quite make the cut for an offer by a small margin after interview have been put on hold. So, unis are likely to pick applicants from this list should they need to- so they can avoid needing to conduct another round of interviews.

You can always take another gap year if you would like- as hopefully you would have achieved the grades needed so you don’t need to worry about a level exams and can focus more on the admissions exams and interview preparation. But, equally, if you’ll be happy pursuing Pharmacy, that’s a great option too.

This advice is for Medicine- I’m not sure about how clearing works for Dentistry or it it’s any different so hopefully someone else can offer advice for this. :h:

A teeny friendly piece of advice as well- Medicine and Dentistry are two very different courses so please please please research and make sure it’s something you really want to do. You’ll need to demonstrate your desire to pursue either course if you get selected for interview.

Good luck with your A Level Results- I’m hoping you get the grades! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Edit: There is also a very helpful thread on TSR which states which unis have entered clearing etc. I will try to find it and link it for you. And maybe @GANFYD can offer some advice too?:colondollar:
