Download and install it when using only indoor lights (i.e. pitch black outside) and give it a click on the 'timeline screen' to cycle through a 24 hour preview. I found the difference quite stunning (and a lot easier on the eyes).

Sort of a lighter, softer, gentler colour now. You're right, it is nicer on the eyes.

I've used that before
You really notice the difference when you disable it for an hour and it goes back to normal brightness

I've been using it for a while now.
Makes my screens a lot more pleasant to look at, but I have to remember to disable it if I'm doing any Photoshop work.

i used it, until i got my new screen
Somehow, 1.5GB of RAM is a reasonable amount to consume when transferring 100MB of ebooks via itunes 
I don't even understand how that's possible.
Worth noting that it didn't even finish - it just threw up an error message and died after consuming all physical memory on my laptop.

I hate iTunes. Horrible program. I never sync the iPhone to it unless it's absolutely necessary.
iTunes makes my blood boil. I made the biggest mistake of my life when I checked the 'Manually Manage Music and Video' box. Now, it suddenly decided that it would uncheck the 'Manually manage...' box, I can't add any content to my iPhone without erasing all content on it first.

That said, a TouchSmart laptop for a couple of things should be coming through DSA, and my current laptop is being given one last chance before I scrap it and get a desktop, because if it works and lasts a little it means I can get a better deal on the Sandy Bridge rig that'll replace it.
Never buy from pcspecialist.co.uk. Aftercare is appalling, and build quality is useless

but if you want a highly priced 13" you could get a thinkpad, which would double up as a snow sledge/offensive weapon/hammer/coffee strainer and you can take it with you into space should you ever happen to become an astronaut.
although I've only got a little netbook/netvertable and my desktop atm, my sister is borrowing my laptop (its a bit on the heavy/large side so I never really took it anywhere, however it is far nicer to program on than my netbook, 1024x600 is inhumane).

I've got a good little laptop along with my desktop.
My laptop is a 15.6" HP G61. Technically it is my wifes, but I use it enough. It was fairly cheap and does remarkably well for itself, given that it was only £400. it manages to run sims 3 without issue and that's on intergrated graphics.
My desktop is a custom build which is now around 3 and a half years old, but is still ticking over well enough.
