The Bishop what?
They're not the first; since the beginning of March, it's been known that Anglia Ruskin are 'only' going for £8k.

Hasn't been agreed/announced and won't be for a month or so.

Fair enough. Still, definitely not going for more.
I have never heard of that university in my life.

Well, it's on the news now so people will probably know about it more.

Will anyone go there?

"Grosseteste" :rofl: what a name

A Bishop's Grosse Teste University, eh? I bet they have a special scheme for fast tracking young boys there.

Our university is announcing its fees around April, so i assume there'll be more to come soon.
I have a *thing* (call it a quirk) where certain words/spellings/names/sounds give me a sick feeling inside. 'Grosseteste' is one of those... :afraid: It's quite a hilarious name, or it would be hilarious if the spelling wasn't so... ugh.

I have to admit, I'd never heard of it until they announced their fees. :dontknow:

Money becoming so much of a consideration in University choice is a dark day for this country. :moon:

The name itself would have put me off if I saw it whilst applying through UCAS. Never heard or seen it in the league or subject tables.

I really don't understand why an unknown university like that will charge such fees but hey; who am i to judge :dontknow:

Grossteste means Big Head and not Big any other part of his anatomy.

Bishop Grossteste was the first Chancellor of Oxford University and a medieval philosopher.

The people who go there want to be teachers. That is what it specialises in.

So I guess we can infer from this that the vast majority of institutions will have to charge £7.5k or more. I mean, who wants to admit that they're inferior to Bishop Grosseteste? (Just realised how harsh this sounds! Not that I'm saying it's awful, but charging less is tacitly saying 'we're not as good as them' and nobody really wants to say 'yeah, my educational institution isn't amazing'...)

I had actually heard of it before this, but only because it's quite close to me geographically

I actually know someone who goes there.

I only just heard of it last summer.

I still don't know how to say the name though...is it gross test? Who know?

That is the question and that is also where TSR isn't representative. This year applications to Manchester Met and other similar universities rose substantially. Applications to many Russell Group universities fell or at best rose by very small amounts.

Another relevant considerations is the number of part-timers at particular institutions. Although part-time students will be able to get funding for the first time, many, probably the vast majority, will choose not to do so. They are more likely to be price-sensitive. As part-timers don't apply through UCAS they are much less visible.
