Kinect doesn't really have any applications other than a motion/heat sensing camera. There are far more refined solutions for ID checking and biometrics.

Your best option really is the motion sensing bell, but what's wrong with a PIR doing that?

I know, I was thinking that... meh it was just a suggestion by someone else, bit stumped for ideas really.

Does your uni publish a list of project ideas?

I would have guessed: Forensic Analysis of Windows 7.

Too open ended - I didn't fancy it, so I created my own topic.

Nope, just my final year dissertation. It was either a project on something forensic/security related or designing and building a piece of software which can act as a forensic investigation tool. Hard as ****.

Don't do any software development... when it goes wrong, it goes wrong on an epic scale. My mate thought he had his dissertation all sewn up back in January, and then, 19000 lines of code in, he ran into a massive problem with his program and he couldn't overcome it without completely rewriting his entire program. He's now handed in a program that doesn't work because he ran out of time.

It's likely he'll fail.

Yeah, 100% not doing any sort of software, not after my recent module. Designing an android application on Eclipse. Very difficult.
So 25,000 words it is. Am thinking of the security issues relating to cloud computing, maybe something on social networking security...

Yeah, he'd pretty much designed an EPoS system for his employer, but he ran into a massive database issue that he couldn't resolve easily at all.

Thats just crazy, the size of the system anyway... our honours project are no where near that size.
