I don't understand this mentality that people have where they think if someone is muslim it is impossible for them to ever think of doing something against the general rules. They are masturbating. BIG DEAL.

People assume that if you identify yourself using a certain set of beliefs, you won't willingly act contradictory to them. It's the same as expecting an Objectivist to not work in a soup kitchen, or expecting a communist to not attend Mass. If they do go against their beliefs whilst still saying they believe in them, you can't blame people for being confused.
