It means satisfaction or whatever gives an individual pleasure.

In the spec it's summarised as the greatest good for the greatest number and in classical liberal economics utility is maximised when consumers are able to purchase whatever goods he or she liked within his or her income contraints. Or in another way, free market economics with free individuals would guarantee the common good.

Utilitarians also believe the state can add to the total sum of utility by taking certain actions that gives individuals satisfaction.

Utilitarians can be described as liberals in that they accepted the freedom of the individuals to determine their own best interests and insisted the role of the state be limited.

i'm trying to do the exam question 'explain how neoliberals and neoconservatives disagree over the role of the state' (45). i'm a bit stuck, can anyone explain why neoliberals have a strong belief in the free market and what example/quote can i use?

What is easier and quicker to learn?

Socialism or Conservatism?

do socialism, it links well with anarchism and you can literally write paragraphs from the heywood book and get a good grade

revise with what you're most confident with so you'll know you'll get good marks that way, a lot of people are missing out socialism from what i've heard since it's quite hard and the longest (including myself) but its up to you

Has anyone revised for Unit 4 yet, I've barely touched it. It's such drivel.
