Use of the standard integral for inverse tanx is on the Core 3 spec though. Shouldn't be unfamiliar to anyone.

Oh is it? I clearly wasn't paying attention when I worked through C3
Is there a mark scheme out yet, plus could have got a lot higher is I had more time, hardly enough time to think about some of the questions properly.

I used the quotient rule 2 times, simplified it etc etc. Took a good 15 minutes and ended up with 0.5e^4
I don't know how you could differentiate them bloody parametrics without the quotient rule.

got that too. took me two pages
I don't see why anyone would wanna use that formula from FP2 for that question, you can just the sec^2x = tan^2x + 1 to show it

i used the product rule with (3t)^-1 and it gave me the same answer!

they'll be low but that low?

stats probably 59 for an A.
core 3 probably 54.
core 4 probably 55
My chances of going to uni now are as big as grey worms d*ck

Without the quotient rule? How?

I only used the quotient rule once - for the y equation.
The x equation could be split into 1/4 - (e^2-6t)/4 or whatever it was, no?
Regardless, I got the same answer of (1/2)e^4

Cheers lad

no probs

I did the produce rule by writing it 1/3*t^-1*e^3t cause I hate the quotient rule, too many steps for me lol

Does anybody remember how many marks were for each questions roughly in total?

I don't know the names of the topics bc i was literally taught core 4 in three weeks nor do I know if these are in order but...

Q1- Binomial Q - 11 marks (99% sure)
a) Partial fraction 3 marks
b) Binomial Exp 7 marks
c) Valid values of |x| 1 mark

Q2-: Using the double angle formula on 3Cos2(theta) to form and solve that quadratic - 5 Marks (this is definite)

Q3- The one with sinA/sinB/CosA/CosB - 6? - I can't remember the individual parts apart from part a was a 1 marker:frown:

Q4- The other partial fractions one 7?
There was the actual partial fraction (3 Marks)
Then the integral/area bit (4 Marks?)

Q5- Exponential/Decay - 11?
a) Showing K was 1 mark
b) Finding the m0 of the similar isotope was 2 marks?
c) Finding the Half Life was 4 marks
*there was another part but i dont remember it*

Q6- Vectors - 15 (this is definite)
a)Acute angle 5 Marks
b) Show they intersect 5 Marks
c) Find C and D 5 Marks

Q7- Parametrics- 10
a) 5 or 6 marks? (Finding gradient at t=2/3)
b) 2 marks (show that x=...)
c) 2 marks (show that the cartesian can be written in the form y=e/(fx)[ln(fx)])

Q8- Differential Equation - 10 (this is definite)
a)3 marks
b) 7 marks

Edit: I don't know why but I seem to think one of the questions was just two 4 markers, the only one that would fit with would be the second partial fraction question...someone correct me if they think I'm wrong and I'll edit

I got got the correct value for dy/dx and subbed in correctly but simplified incorrectly... What an idiot.... Do you think I'd lose one, or two marks?
Can anyone remember the vectors question? I would like to do it again. Also C3: 66, C4: 72, safe A*?

woah, the highest C4 A* has ever been is 63... youre saying it went up by 9?
and 64 was the A* for last year, so it's definitely lower.

simplified the algebraic expression incorrectly or simplified numerically incorrectly?
I'd say two for the first case and one for the second case because you'd usually get one for expression and one for final answer

Could someone also collate all the fragmented mark schemes into an "offical unofficial" ms?

I don't think there were anymore parts for question 5

1) A = -5/2, B = 9/2
-1 + 7x - (22/3)x2
-1/2 < x < 1/2

2) x = 99.6, 206.4

3) p = 2/15
r = 1/3, s = 4/15

4) -3x + 2 + 9/(2x-3)
-69/2, 9/2

5) 330 days

6) cos = 13/35
(2, 0, -1)
C = (0, 10/3, -5/3) D = (4, -10/3, -1/3)

7) (1/2)e^4
y = e / (2sqrt(1-x))(1-ln(2sqrt(1-x)))

8) k = 6
sin3y - 3ycos3y - pi = (1/6)tan^(-1)(3x/2)
