Get the workbook and revision guide ASAP. Work through all the pages (learn from the revision guide, then go over to the corresponding page in the workbook for practice Qs). Get this done as soon as u can by urself, don’t wait for school to catch up.

The sooner that stage is done, the better - then u can move on to the papers from early.

Do all that and you’ll get an A*.

I just started A-level maths and I'm finding it quite tricky. At GCSE I got an 8 but a tutor helped me with this (before I was consistently getting 7s).

I was wondering if I'll be okay doing A-level maths. I'm aiming to get an A as I feel an A* is way out of my reach.

Also, could anyone recommend any websites/textbooks that have *topic specific* maths questions (kinda like maths genie)

Although I am only in year 13 now and haven't got my a-levels yet, I have found that to succeed in maths a level you need to do as many questions as possible. I also only got an 8 at GCSE (which tbh I was annoyed at) and think I am doing okay with A-level maths. There are people who have got 7s in my class who, because they consistently do questions, are on par with people who have got 9s.
Let your grade 8 motivate you. A-levels are much more about hard work than pure intelligence. If you are worried that you will struggle then let that motivate you to do all the questions in the text book, revise the content, do more questions and I promise you that you will succeed. There are people in my class who got 9s that are falling behind and struggling because they don't put in the hours of work necessary. Don't become complacent and fall behind as that is just a downward spiral with A-level maths.
As for websites, I used Dr Frost maths sometimes which might help you. I have read other comments about workbooks which sound like an excellent idea and I may try then myself.
The main point I am trying to get across is hardwork> natural ability in A-level maths. It doesn't matter if you don't understand a topic at first. All that matters is that you consistently do maths questions and it will inevitably improve your grades.

No please do not use that. My school based our 2 years off that book and it resulted in me getting a B and having to resit. Everyone complained about how easy those textbook qs were compared to the real exam. That’s why edexcel released the workbook + revision guide + papers plus books a year and a half after the original

Completely agree with this logic toward maths. That’s why i confidently said u WILL get an A* if you do all the questions (and understand them of course) from all the resources i linked.
