I'd rather have someone see a monochromatic scan of my body than explode 30,000 feet mid-air, oddly enough.

Can't see a problem here. Nobody is forced to fly on commercial airliners.

Imagine working with this machine...
The temptation to make jokes to people

Hello Sir... a little small aren't we

Hello... Nothing fake on you

lol it would be great.... for about 1 hour then would be pretty boring -_-

It also makes sex laws more complicated...
You had an image of an outline of a naked child... You are under arrest...
You had gained an image of an outline of a naked women... blah blah blah

I would rather have neither and not sure how this will help prevent a 30000 feet explosion. Luckily it isn't compulsory and is only being used to save time.

So it should really be a question of would you rather someone see a monochromatic scan of your body, or spend 10 minutes extra in an airport?

If I were the security guard monitoring the system, I think the amount of 'package' jokes made by every single person going through for months on end would eventually cause me to blow up a plane myself out of annoyance.

guys i just had my full body scanned at manchester and they said i could keep the picture

i'm well embarrassed now
I guess this might slow down the amount of people who felch whilst flying.

If I get banned for posting this then maybe they shouldn't have this kind of scanner. Or at least keep it optional.

TBH you can't see much

can you honestly make out the face?
DisgruntledMoth
Do you think we'd get to see the pictures afterwards? I think I'd want a personalized mug and shirt. Maybe a keyring.

"I was full-body scanned at Manchester airport!"

Hahahahahahaha. :woo:

no you can't which is good. I wouldn't be too bothered, I'd go in it and strike a pose. But I think it's fair enough if people don't want to use it and to keep it optional.

Besides, hasn't Heathrow had these full body scanners for years, shortly after 2001? They have had them for ages as I went through one when going trans-atlantic through T4.
"Ms Barrett said the black-and-white image would only be seen by one officer in a remote location before it was deleted.

"The images are not erotic or pornographic and they cannot be stored or captured in any way," she said."

Apparently, Ms Barrett was absent the day they invented camera phones. Lawl.

ROFL
LOL, It an x-ray not a flipping porno.

Having people just get naked and then search through all their clothes would increase security even more; why dont we just do that?

Theres a limit to how far we can go in the name of 'saftey/security', and personally I think this scanner is a step too far.

This!

hmm I can find some good use for that :hubba: :ahee:

On a serious note...I don't think that its crazy. No one would or should complain if they caught a terrorist.
I hate people that complain about how the government does not give the public privacy and they are the same ones complaining the government does nothing to protect them!!

Joy, another one of those 'if you've done nothing wrong, you've no reason to hide' people.

Do you run marathons? No? Well, you can jog on. I hate people that smile and nod as the government slowly intrudes further into our lives under the pretence of 'security'. They will suffer just as much as the people complaining, yet they appear to be grossly ignorant of this fact.

There are far, far better ways to catch terrorists and protect citizens than to infringe on their privacy.

WTF? Why all the people going on about it not being pornographic what difference does that make?

So it's ok to take intimate scans of everyone getting on a plane, but if you take a photo in public with a child in shot your in trouble?

THis is a good point, how would this work with child pornography laws? Of course you could choose not to put your child through this machine, but they still have to cinsider the eventuality that it could happen.
