An argument in favour of spiritual experiences.

Emotions are subjective and personal experiences that we all agree are real and not imagined.

Spiritual experiences are subjective and personal experiences that a lot of people won't agree are real.

What's the difference between the two?

We can all point to a shape which is not in our heads and agree it is a cube, but we can't point to anything outside of our heads to agree that we are feeling happiness. However, we agree that we all feel happiness so why can't some people be having spiritual experience?

Spiritual experiences require something external to your mind/body, unlike emotions. If a "spiritual" experience didn't depend on a god, a spirit, a life force, an afterlife, a higher state of being, etc. then they would just be very intense emotional experiences. Which I think is probably the case when people think they've had a spiritual experience.
