Me too! Yeah I'm thinking it will be hard, was quite easy in January. I was one UMS off an A so repeating it. :s-smilie:

I think the paper is much easier than the january one
It was easier than I thought it would be!

Any one get these:
1) (I) (2,2)
ii) y+3x=8

2) y=f(x-1)
y=-f(x)

3) -1-root3

4) a) 3x2 +1/2rootx -0.25 -1/2x2
b) (-2,-9)

5) (I) x+3)2 +8
ii)(-3,8) min
iii)x>-3 x<-3
iv)y>8
b) x= -5/6

6) a=9
b=-12
c= 4
ii) x=2/3

7ii) 3x4x6

8) k>-5+2root5 and k<-5-2root5

I got nearly all the same as you apart from BIB:

5.(iv) y greater than or equal to 8
5.(b) x = -1/2 :s-smilie:

You might be right regarding 5 (iv), I can't see where I've gone wrong on 5(b)? You've got me worried now.

I often hate these post mortoms comparing answers to others, finding I've fvcked something up.

I was getting 70+ in a lot of the past papers so if I get anything less than that I'll be pretty pissed off.

Oh I know what I've done wrong.

I cross multiplied (3^(x+1) x 3^2x)(3^3/2) = 1

And then left hand side equaled 3x+5/2 = 1

And basically I forgot to change the 1. Idiot.

How many marks will I lose? All them? I'm hoping for some method marks. :frown:

I got 56-\frac{5}{6} thought it was wrong so was frantacilly trying to do that question again in the hope of getting an integer or something. Thankfully I ran out of time and did not change it.

What do you mean I was correct?

Does anyone know how many marks I would lose? Would I get any method marks for that?

My overall total is going to be 63+ any method marks for 5(b).

if you have used rules of indicies you'll get marks for each rule you used correct

=/, I made a stupid error in 5 which will mean i get most of it wrong. I reckon i got about 68ish / 75. Do you think this paper will be scaled massively? I think it will be scaled down quite a bit, cause loads of people found it easy. Im just praying for the best. :smile:

I got -1/9 too
Would somebody kindly put up working solutions for 5(b)? I just want to see where I went wrong and deduce how many marks I would likely to get. Thanks. :smile:

1)(2,2)
ii) y+3x=8

2) y=f(x-1)
y=-f(x)

3) -1-root3

4) a) 3x^2 + 0.5/rootx - 0.25 - 2/x^2
b) (-2,-9)

5) (x+3)^2+8
ii)(-3,8) min
iii) x>-3
iv) y<8
b) x= -1/9

6) a=9, b=-12, c=4
ii) (3x-2)(3x-2)

7ii) x=3, y=4

8) k>-5+2root3 k<-5-2root3
