Yeah, I share those feelings - I found it really tough! Oh well, at least we survived to tell the tale.

We did indeed!
I think we'll find Glasgow a bit easier (at least I hope so anyway haha)
Sorry if this has been answered before - does anyone know if the panel would've read our PS (+ other components of the application - reference/UKCAT/academics, etc) before the interview or are they interviewing blind?

"In 2013 entry interviews, interviewers did not read the personal statement or academic profile prior to the interview, so make sure that you can talk about things that you have done without being prompted."

Am I the only one on the 11th?

It's difficult finding topical issues to discuss, they always seem so specialist when I read them. No doubt I'll end up with the author of the report interviewing me

I have it on the 11th, too

Regarding the topical issue, I think they understand you're not a med student/dr yet so they won't be expecting any specialist knowledge from you.. I think it's just meant to show that you are interested in medical topics - you can say that you want to study medicine to be able to understand medical articles

Yeah, I'm just finding it a bit difficult to find one that I'd feel confident talking about in length. I think I have a relatively good one though which I have a genuine interest in, so going to research more over the weekend so I can answer (hopefully) any follow up questions they have.

What time is your interview at again? Mine is 10.20. I'm surprisingly not feeling too nervous, and can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I think it's important to let them know how interesting you find it and why. And if you do some additional research on the matter, even better! I think it's a good opportunity to gain a few points on. Although they might also be asking about a medical issue of their choice, don't you think so?

Mine is 9.50, so I'll probably see you there! I think it's good to feel relaxed just now, makes it easier to do some actual preparation..but I'm sure we'll be filled with adrenaline on Wednesday

I don't think they could do that....or at least I hope they don't.

Yeah we probably will bump into each other. I'll be the slightly older guy in the grey suit sweating and shaking

"We understand that you are unable to attend the interview offered to you. Given the nature of your circumstances, please note the Medical School may be in a position to interview a limited number of applicants in January/February 2014 who are unable to attend. There is no guarantee that we will be able to undertake further interviews, but we will inform you as soon as possible in the New Year if we are able to do so."

Anyone else in this boat? I'll be so gutted if they can't manage anything in Jan/Feb.

Yeah I got the same email...it's less than helpful

I've replied asking if they can even just move my interview to later in the day so that I can go on the 12th

It definitely doesn't inspire much confidence that they're going to re-schedule.

How much preparation for these interviews have people done? Should I be preparing answers?? And does anyone know how they score you?

Well I'd not write it off completely, I've had an interview already at another uni (not giving away which one haha) where they brought up a topic I had to discuss. It wasn't too out there so if you keep up with what's going on in the world of medicine it should be fine

Is there any way that you could make your interview or does it overlap with your exam?
