Hi,
I got 2630 UCAT and SJT Band 1. I got 14 A*s in GCSE (im from Wales). Would this be competitive for UEA this year?
Thanks

This is too risky for UEA. Last year was 2720 ( I don’t remember exact score, it was in 2700s)

UEA has 50% weightage for UCAT in final selection, so lower UCAT are at disadvantage. I wouldn’t suggest applying to UEA.

With your GCSE, you have more chances at other Med schools. Ask in the “Which Med school to apply” thread and you’ll get plenty of advice

Hope it helps

My stats are:
GCSE: 9999999976
UCAT: 2760, B1
A*AA
Would UEA be a safer application?

Haha, I suppose I meant to ask if I have a decent chance of getting in rather than if it’s safe. Thanks for your help! Do you know how much the cutoffs tend to rise year by year? I’m struggling to find the stats, and some med schools tend to have rises of like 70 points, and some only have rises of 10 or 20 usually

Hi,

Would UEA be a reasonable choice with a UCAT score of 2730 and GCSE scores of 9 9 9 9 (Math, Phy, Chem, Bio) 8 8 (English language, literature) 7 (Art & Design) 6 (Music)? Predicted A*A*A in A-levels.

I live in Hertfordshire so think I'm considered East of England.

There is no way to predict it. A few years ago, UEA said they offered everyone who applied an interview, now they have a cut off which is up where the highest UCAT scores were back then! The fact they use UCAT as 50% of post interview scoring has made them popular with lots of high UCAT scorers, pushing the cut off up.
I hope things will stabilise a bit this year, but who knows?

Not for A100. I think it was 2700 ish last year

But, it should be good enough for A104 if you meet the contextual criteria
