Aqa m1! Urgent need help

Hi guys,

I got a quick question. When we are told to find a boat/ship etc travelling North/South etc, how do we find it?

If someone can please let me know?

North ->
South -> -i component of velocity = 0
West -> j component of velocity - 0
East ->

North-East -> i component of velocity = j component of velocity
North-West -> -i component of velocity = j component of velocity
South-East ->
South-West ->

Thanks a lot!

Assuming i and j are directed east and north respectively:

North: j positive, i=0
South: j negative, i=0
West: i negative, j=0
East: i positive, j=0

North west: i and j equal in magnitude but -i=j
North east: i and j equal in magnitude but i=j
South west: i and j equal in magnitude but -i=-j
South east: i and j equal in magnitude but i=-j

Thanks a lot! Really helpful! :smile:

Quick question; do you mean that:

North i=0
South -i=0
East j=0
West -j=0

?

How are you feeling overall for M1? Surprised to see the grade boundaries so low, 58/75 for an A last few exams.

No worries! Yeah boundaries are low!

All of my last post was correct (at least I believe so and stand to be corrected) but I might have written it confusingly.

For north and south i=0 because it's not going either direction horizontally.

For east and west j=0 because it's not going anywhere vertically.

Hoping m1 is easier than Core 2!
