Unsure whether to do a joint degree at Uni...

For a while I have been unsure about what to study at uni, but recently I've been thinking that English Literature is the degree for me. However, I really like Biology too, and in some unis you can do a joint degree in english and biology....although these subjects don't really complement each other...but I really enjoy both of them. Does anyone have any advice, should I go for just an English Literature degree or a combined English and Biology??
Thanks!
Hi! I'm applying for an awkward combination as well (Biology and Film Studies), and as with A-levels, picking subjects you enjoy is always a good route to go down.
Have you looked in more depth at the universities that offer this course combination? Their course specifications will give you information on how a joint degree will work.
If you enjoy a course, there's no reason to not go for it. Joint degrees are popular options, complementary course or not. Just bear in mind you only have one personal statement to write, so consider how you can encompass both subjects in the one.
If you do either of those you should get free credits which will allow you to take one or sometimes two modules in another subject, depending on the uni. So you could always do for example an English Lit degree and then each year take a module in Biology.

Thanks for the advice, I've only just seen this! I've been looking at some Scottish universities (Glasgow and Edinburgh) which really appeal to me as you can take three subjects for the first two years and then decide what to specialise in for your degree. I've also noticed that Liverpool have a wide range of joint honours where you can do both english and biology..... Online, it says the downside of a joint honours is taking half the amount of the modules as single honours students, which puts you in a disadvantage when against them apparently. However, personal statements and UCAS applications have to be in so soon, and I really do love English! I don't know what I would write in a personal statement for both english and biology!
