Maths, Chemistry, Biology and French.
I'm doing computing until AS though, as a GCSE since I started the course a year later (that's when it was introduced to our school)

How are you finding computing? I didn't do computing for GCSE because my school doesn't offer it. So I'm hoping AS level computing is not boring.

Hi!

Thanks, I'm hoping to get into Queen's (London), do you have any advice for being different compared to everyone else who gets the same grades as you?

Thanks

I've only done a term and a half so far - It's really interesting but since we only get an hour a week with our teacher it's a lot of independent work. Python coding is fun (when you can work it) but the graphics of a computer and databases are quite easy once you learn them

Cool. I did meet the computing teacher at the sixth form I want to go to. She is very funny, so I'm sure I won't get bored in class.
So have you done any work experience yet?

Our computing teacher is great, he helps us a lot as we hardly get any lesson time.

Yes, I did 3 days in the Feb half term and I have another 3 days planned for this Summer. (The place I got work experience for takes on loads of people, hence why it's 3 days a holiday.) I tried asking for dates in October but most dental practices save those places for 2016 entrants (A2 students) so I'm hoping to find somewhere new as well. Must admit, I wrote to 9 places asking for experience, only three bothered to reply and they all said no. I'm working with a lady who came and talked to our school though, as she knows that some of us want to become dentists but it's hard to get placement anywhere. (So she takes them on in her practice)

It's good that you are going to work experience during the summer holidays. I'm really busy (going abroad and everything)
But I did go to a dental practice for one week. They really didn't mind and told me to come again. So I might do some more in October or December.
I wanted to do work experience in an orthodontics, but they say no to year 11 students.

Where are you off to? Sounds nice

That's good, did you work mostly with the dentists or did you do a bit of everything? I spent the majority of my time with one of the main dentists, but I also followed the Dental nurses and the Hygiene nurse - it was all really good! Is that what you'd want to specialise in? They say if you stay in the UK it's better to specialise, I was considering going to France for a bit and working over there. Hospital experience is great apparently, although that's no under 18's I think.

Going to go around Europe with my family

I mostly worked with the dentist. I did spend a few hours with the dental nurse. She showed me where they kept the equipment, how they sterilised everything. It was all fun. Yeah I wanted to specialise in that. What about you?
I'm not really sure where I would want to work. I'll see if I can even get into the course haha.

That'll be so nice

Yeah, I liked the whole equipment routines etc  As well, they do sedation at the place I worked at, so I was lucky enough to help out with inhalation sedation and intravenous sedation

Haha, definitely top priority to get accepted first  I haven't got an area to specialise in yet, I definitely prefer the practical work and operations as supposed to paperwork and checkups though  You have to do a bit of both, it's in the job

That's cool, you helped. I just watched the dentist and asked a lot of questions. I asked the dentist if he likes his job and he said he hates it lol.

Have you seen the entry requirements to any uni you want to go to? They safe quite high but not as hard as medicine though.

Yeah, a bit. I passed her things and cleaned after every patient, and I talked to all of the patients  Everyone loved their jobs at the place I was at, it was an all girls team and they said they were lucky to all get on. Also, because of that they work 3 or 4 days a week, so they've got a day with kids etc, which is nice

Yes, most of them are AAA  I've got about 7 places I'd like to look at.
How about yourself? Where are you looking?

That's nice that they have time for their children.
I'm looking at unis in London and Birmingham. There are not many dental schools, only eleven I think.
