U.K. universities should all adopt a Liberal Arts system.

Debate.

I personally couldn't agree more! It is all good and well to have a large amount of knowledge in one area but it is not much good when you can't apply it to other aspects of learning and thought.

The higher education system in the UK has royally messed up recently (for many reasons in my eyes) with teaching segments but not teaching the ability to laterally think... a key skill in the world of work and a skill that liberal arts/ humanities teaches.
It's a difficult question. On the one hand, it does make a lot of sense - the fact of the matter is that most people really would benefit from being able to try different pathways first before specialising in a degree area. The UK has one of the most specialised education pathways in the world - in most parts of Europe, everyone has to take a core curriculum all the way up until they finish school. On the other hand, if you are a specialist and you know what you want to do, the system in the UK works very much in your favour. Honestly, I think the Liberal Arts system is better generally but the UK system serves me a lot better - it's definitely in my favour.

You could have a dual system but that could get very complicated.
