1) Would I get a mark for writing the whole electronic configuration down? I wrote 4p2 in the end
2) You know the equation of formation for water, would I get a mark if I balanced it like this:

2H2O ----> 2H2 + O2

Instead of H2O ----> H2 + 1/2O2

1) They will probably allow it
2) Yep, they always allow fractions or multiples for the balancing coefficients

Yeah 4p2 is what they wanted. And that equation is fine

No that equation is not fine. Formation is 1 mole of a substance.

1) no it didn't ask for configuration it asked for main shells2) yes I believe you can as long as it's balanced

That sass tho :smile:

That's only used in isomerisation to separate branches from unbranced

Cracking also produces branched alkanes and an alkene so zeolite does get used in cracking isomerisation is the same but i think platinums used there

Does aliphatic just mean 'does not contain an arene ring'?
Original post by Adam971
They might allow it. They asked for the 'main' energy levels (shells).

I put 2,8,18,4

I put 2, 8, 8, 8, 6

Yes. Or benzene ring

Benzene ring yeah, idk about arene ring
what percentage does f331 count as?? I know f332 is more but does anyone know the actual %

I put that too and then crossed it out, bc that means it has 5 shells and 6 electrons on the outermost shell, so I just left it.
What is purpose of catalyst. Is it to speed up rate of reaction and lower cost by lower temps. OR something else

No, it's in period 4 so there must be 4 shells. But I did exactly the same thing as you but then I changed it

Which one was that? They never asked for a definition?
Everyone got butan-2-ol for the skeletal right? And C4H9?

Yes but C4H9O

ocr have used the term arene ring in one of their papers before so I think it's correct

Did you get a triangle for skeletal for ethoxyethane like /°\ or something like \/°\/
