I really didn't think it was too bad

Expect standard boundaries

My GUESS at boundaries would be those very similar to June-13

Jun-14 74 67 60 53 46 40 34
Jun-13 75 69 62 55 48 41 35
Jan-13 75 70 64 57 50 44 38

Paper Analysis

Q1. simple binomial expansion, much harder ones have been asked

Q2. very easy circle question, this is normally much harder

Q3 standard algebra question, the only thing unusual was the factor of 3

Q4 standard radians question, you didn't even need to use advanced trig

Q5 a) is a bit odd, I can see that causing problems b) is fine, common question

Q6 very easy, far harder questions have been asked

Q7 not too bad for a logs question

Q8 this will score the lowest marks; however,

a) not too bad, similar has been asked before

b)i) this will cause a LOT of problems but the first mark (of 3) should be a banker, if you didn't know to substitute in 1 - cos^2 you shouldn't have been in the exam

b)ii) even if you couldn't do b)i) this is quite simple if you just sub in k=3 into the equation and treat as normal

Q9 other than the odd, cost part, this was a very standard question

I would say there was only about 6 marks that I would consider harder than normal.

There is no way it will be sub 60 for an A (famous last words)

How many marks would you get if you used a = 48 by accident but still got the correct number of terms(if a was 48)

And to think people were berating you for taking more than twenty minutes  Cheers!

Didn't do the paper this year, but people really should have been prepared given the commotion caused after last year's paper. It's not hard to find challenging maths resources online!
hi on question 8 instead of using the formula cnant you factorise ro (4cosx+3)(cosx-1)

Yeah, that'll be fine too.

I thought it to be an average paper, thanks as always Arsey

72/75 here, didn't do my integration in two parts as I didn't think it made a difference, realised it's the modulus...

I'm unable to open it :/

Anyone else getting the same problem?
for the sinx - root3 cosx=0 i did exactly like you, but someone did it by putting sinx=cosxtanx
Therefore cosx(tanx-root3)=0, and that would give you a few more solution...
Other than that, all right
Thanks
Pretty confident on 75 unless you had to explicitly compute for the final part of 9!
I said the second derivative = 12pi + 600/r^3 and as r > 0 this was clearly > 0 therefore it was a minimum! They will accept that right?
How much will a B be?
question 7 y=1/3 cuz its says y<2/11 or something like that?
Hi Arsey, thank you so much for posting answers.

With regards to question 8.i), as we are left with tan inverse root 3.....wouldn't the root 3 have both positive and negative values.

For example root 4 = positive and negative 2.

Therefore wouldnt you be required to take into account the values for which it is negative?
