Polynomial functions help required

Question: http://imgur.com/W2G40Zi
(TSR uploading being as useless as always)

a) I got (x2+2)2 - 9 by completing the square.

b) This is the question I'm stuck on. How does one find 'minimise' a function? We weren't taught this. Does it mean to make the function equate to <0?

c) I'm also not sure how to do this. I can't take out a factor of x because of that constant at the end. Should I use algebraic long division instead? If so, which factor do I attempt to divide by?

d) Should be easy enough to do once I've factorised.
