Doubt! Placebo
hi guys i have seen in many articles where they talk about a certain drug being more effective for a disease than the placebo treatment. As far as i know, isn't placebo a sugar tablet that is often used in drug testing? is there another meaning for placebo? Does placebo treatment for a disorder mean the normal standard treatment for that disorder, cos surely u cannot treat a patient by giving them sugar tablets.
I'm not too sure but I think it's that many people feel better simply for being given a treatment. It's a psychological thing. By a treatment being more effective than a placebo it proves the treatment is having a tangible positive effect.
I think anyway.
