Very faint sound on telephone landline

Does anyone else have this problem? The person on the other line is so faint but I know they are speaking at a normal level because when they call on my mobile it's fine.

I have already turned the volume to maximum and put the phone right next to my ear.

I would contact whoever provides your landline service. A faint line usually means connection problems and the provider of the service can usually check whether there are problems while you're on the phone.
