I'm debating which of the 2 calculator to get for both school & general use. Does anyone know if there is any practical advantage of the EX for A2 Maths/Further Maths topics?

Well, the EX is the successor of the ES, but the difference between them is negligible. The EX looks slightly better with nicer buttons and the display can fit 6 lines of numbers vs only 4 lines on the ES. If the prices are similar, I would get the Ex, but if not I don't think it's worth any extra money.
