Edexcel International Advanced Levels

I have started my International Advanced Levels and I will be sitting for the exams for the May/June 2017 as a private candidate in the Edexcel board. But I still have a confusion about International Advanced Levels and Advanced Levels. I think as I am a Sri Lankan I have to write the Edexcel IAL but I want to know if my decision is right. What is the difference between the Edexcel Advanced Levels and the Edexcel International Advanced Levels? Please help me guys...

Personally i have done the international advanced subsidiary basically the international version of As, I believe the qualification is the same, If you are doing the IAS for either bio or chem feel free to ask more questions i would be glad to help.

Edit: by private candidate do you mean like self studying if so i also did that and its normal.

I'm also a private candidate and I do self-studying. I'm taking Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics for my International Advanced Levels. Thank you for your reply and if I have any doubt in chemistry I will ask you.

I will be sitting for the exams in the May/June 2017.

I think the main and most notable difference is with the practicals/coursework. our exams are completely written even if some lab stuff might come out (in chem & physics). I took the sudden decision of doing the physics AS examinations this May but I covered a lot of stuff with the school, how do you feel about it? Grade boundaries are really fair I think. May I PM you with questions I might have? xoxo Good luck to us both!

I'm stuck with Physics. And that's why I opened a thread for Physics Unit 1, 2, and 3. You can post doubts there as part of discussion.

And you can also join the discussion here:

But it's a common thread for all AS students. There are many students from different exam boards and some students are offering different subjects.

To be specific you can join the discussion at the threads I've created.

hello! I live in qatar and I take exactly the same subjects as you. I take edexcel international advanced levels in maths, physics, chemistry and german. the main difference is that for the sciences, paper 3 is a written paper rather than a practical because we are international. I would also add that the IAL exams tend to be harder than the A Level exams because international is more competitive than UK. so if you want to do past papers, I strongly advise you to look IAL papers rather than AL papers because of the difference in difficulty
