C2 Algebra and functions help

Help me with question (b) please? If you can show the steps then that would be helpful for me to understand. I'm confused.

The polynomial f(x) is given by f(x) = x^(3) + 5x - 18
a) Use the factor theorem to show that x - 2 is a factor of f(x)
b) Express f(x) in the form (x-2)( x^(2) + px + q), where P and q are integers. Hence, show that the equation f(x) = 0 has exactly one real root and state the value.

a) If (xa)(x-a) is a factor of f(x)f(x) then f(a)f(a) should equal 0

b) Long division and talk about the discriminant on the quadratic
