Durham's history course is ranked among the best in the country, and with the new year approaching and offers on the horizon I thought it'd be a good time to set up our own thread.

What was your PS like: probably pretty bad 😂 Talked about some summer schools I'd been on, a history book I've read on a topic I really like, historical linguistics and some extra curricular stuff
How excited are you to hear back from Durham??? Very!! Although nervous at the same time aha

What was your PS like: Pretty good I think, got me an offer from LSE.
How excited are you to hear back from Durham???: It's potentially gonna be my firm choice, so really hope I hear soon. Usually they don't start giving out offers to the most popular subjects until after the January Deadline

What was your PS like: it was English-based because at all my other chosen unis I applied for a straight English course
How excited are you to hear back from Durham??? I've already received an offer for A*AA, which I'm super happy about <3

A2s: Predicted/achieved: I'm American so the AP equivalent I have right now is one 5 from the APUSH Exam. I'm going to be taking the AP Euro Exam, AP US Gov't Exam, AP Macro Exam, and maybe the AP Human Geography Exam or Comp. Gov't.
What was your PS like: Read a lot of history books about topics I enjoy, went to a few historical battlefields in the area, and a few other things.
How excited are you to hear back from Durham??? Any questions you may have.

That's amazing! You're the first home straight History Student I've heard getting a place. You must be thrilled, their admissions office shuts tommorow over Christmas so they must have really liked you !

haha idk about that, I think maybe they're doing it by waves?? I mean I sent my application in really early, and a girl I know also applying for straight History got an offer today too, so perhaps that's it? (Not that 2 cases are exactly brill evidence for something ofc

I'm going to go to any post-offer days they're putting on but most likely!! I really liked the city and the course and the uni when I went to the open day so
Umm A level predictions - A* A* A (History, Psychology and English Lit respectively)
AS grades - AAAA
GCSEs - 7As, 3As
Specialist area makes me sound knowledgeable I like it
I'm really interested in children during the British industrial revolution and also the Glorious Revolution! Wouldn't say I'm a specialist in either though :P what about you??I hope you hear back as soon as the admissions office reopens! your stats are really good so I'm pretty sure you will

I got an (unconditional) offer for History and French on 4 January, but only just found this thread!
GCSEs: 11A*1A
I did IB, not a levels: 45 points with 777HL (achieved)
PS was tricky as I had to combine history, French and gap year stuff
I applied to St Mary's

If anyone with an offer received before February 1st is still waiting for college allocation, check the post-offer day invite and it should tell you where you've been allocated when it comes to choosing the type of visit.

What was your PS like: it was okay I guess? Definitely tedious to write, though
