I don't think so. 50% might be a Grade 5 according to these predicted grade boundaries.

50% would typically a B in the old spec, so an estimate of a 5 would be unreasonable considering the added difficulty.

Well no, as i said this is for OCR.
OCR have 3 papers out of 300
All the others are out of 240
OCR have to do 20 marks more on each paper
150/300 for A
Also as i said Edexcel will be higher because in the old spec it's always been higher than ocr also because the questions are slightly less complex
I'd predict 55% for a 7 for Edexcel
68% for an 8
